[A downright snarl, eyes still trying to find the source of the voice.]
They ain't got no right! This place ain't got no right to keep messin' with my forkin' head like this! I know they ain't comin' back!
[His arm stays straight, stays steady, gun pointed at nothing, because he couldn't see where the doppelganger was, if they were anywhere.]
This place brought me here, not the other way 'round! Ain't my fault my revenge is bein' put on hold like this! I'd be out there searchin' for that son of a nice lady if it weren't for this muddle fudgin' place!
[The seams of his robot body seem to glow a touch brighter at his rage.]
[She barks out his name again, sharper and louder this time, and grabs hold of the hand holding the gun with both of hers. With a surprising amount of strength she pulls his arm down, aiming the barrel directly at herself, hoping the shock of it will somehow shake him out of this sudden turn into anger.]
Boothill, stop it. Do you hear me?!
[Her grip presses hard against his hand and arm, whitening the tips of her fingers.]
[There was a creak of the metal, but Guizhong was successful in yanking his arm down. His fingers deftly spun the gun around so the barrel was no longer pointed her chest, but he growled at her.]
Why would ya be fightin' me?! Don't ya be playin' games with me, missy!
[That also wasn't his only gun, but he didn't bring out the other one up his sleeve (literally), for now. Instead, because she had such a hard grip on his hand, Boothill yanked her close so his face was just inches from hers.]
I ain't in no mood for this bull-hockey, missy. Now let go.
[She doesn't like this at all, and were she not who she is, he might well be frightening her. There's no resistance in her when he pulls her in, though she could have been an unyielding statue against his tugging, and she meets his eyes with firm steel in her own before making an incredibly impulsive decision to snap him out of this nonsense.
It's easy since he's so close. She leans in quickly and kisses him, almost bruising with how abruptly she plants her lips against his.]
[Well, she certainly accomplished her goal of getting him to stop being so angry at a creepy voice in the creepy area. Can't be angry when you're too busy being plum surprised by a god damn kiss out of nowhere.
The only reason the gun didn't fall out of his hand was because his finger was still looped into the trigger guard. The harsh glow of his eyes settled as he struggled to process what was going in.
Guizhong lingers with the contact for a few moments more, gives his lower lip a very pointed nip before she pulls away entirely, and lifts a hand to flick the brim of his hat.
She can almost see the wheels going around in his head as he tries to work out what just happened.]
[The flick to his hat did bring him out of his stupor, finally. He placed the revolver back into the holster. His cheeks were actually red, stark against the pale skin.]
I-I didn't go nowhere! An' you can't j-just play with a man's feelin's like that, missy!
[He adjusted his hat, clearing a throat that didn't need clearing before crossing his arms. Boothill would be lying if he said he wasn't fond of Miss Guizhong. But like hell he would ever admit to it given his path for vengeance. It wouldn't be fair to her.
And he had no inkling she saw him more than a friend, anyway. So, was the kiss real or was it really just to distract him from his rage?]
Nonsense! You were acting like you'd lost your mind.
[And it is not when she would have preferred to do that kind of thing, either! But lacking other options, it had ended up being what she resorted to.
She is very fond of him. Perhaps more so than she should be given her circumstances.]
And who is playing. Before you make such accusations think of who you're speaking to. [Guizhong plants a hand on her hip.] Or do I need to do that again to make myself better understood?
I think you ought to engage the intelligence that I know you have inside that head of yours, Mister Boothill.
[And understand that they are in a very odd situation, and the voice he's hearing probably isn't even real (or is, at best, actually trying to rile him up). She knows he's smart enough to figure that out.
Then she shakes her head and holds a hand out.]
If you don't want me to kiss you again you ought to tell me, since I think I would very much like to. After we have made our way through this little mess.
[She looks a little bit amused as she laces their fingers together and gives his hand a reassuring squeeze. It doesn't bother her a bit that the digits between her own are metal.]
[His fingers tightened amongst hers, tugging them back to a stop instead of walking towards the building they had originally been headed.]
'Cause I'm a dead man walkin', Miss Guizhong. [He reached up to tilt his hat down, to cover his eyes as his fingers continued to remain tight around hers.] The path I walk is for vengeance. Revenge. 'Sides the rangerin', I'm on a constant path of revenge, a path I ain't walkin' away from when it's all over, all for one man, Miss Guizhong.
A son of a nice lady named Oswaldo Schneider. [His voice box produced the sound of a deep sigh, it even hitched. Boothill lifted his head just enough to look at the smaller woman.] He took my daughter, Guizhong.
He took my family. Ain't nothin' left of my home no more. They're gone.
[Boothill tugged a little at the red, worn down shawl at his shoulders.]
This was hers. 'S all I have.
[He sighed deeply and shook his head.]
This body o' mine is for that one thing, now. It... I ain't built for affection no more.
[She stops when he does, before he even has the chance to really tug at her at all, and listens to him with a suitably solemn expression while he lays out his reasonings for being a poor choice.
(At least, that's what she thinks he's trying to do.)]
Oh, I don't think that's true...
[Guizhong lifts her arm, raising both of their hands and drawing their linked fingers into view.]
I'm very sorry for what you've been through, my dear Boothill. Truly I am. [Her free hand touches her chest, over her heart.] But to say you aren't built for affection? Do you expect me to believe that?
